Before
After The job
What we walked into, and what we did.
The problem
A 1920s terrace ensuite sat directly over the kitchen ceiling. The original waterproofing had failed in the corner of the shower, and a small leak was already staining the cornice below. The brief was to renovate without putting the kitchen at risk.
Our approach
We stripped to bare framing, replaced one bearer that had wicked moisture, then re-sheeted with cement sheet, treated the slab-to-wall junction with reinforcement tape, and applied a two-coat AS 3740 membrane with a 24-hour hold between coats. Tiling went on a screed with a measured 1-in-60 fall to the linear drain.
The result
Ensuite delivered to the signed design and budget. Kitchen ceiling below stayed dry through a flood-test cycle and a year of use. Certificate of compliance on file.
